Europeana Plenary Conference in Belgium

Europeana Plenary Conference took place in Belgium (Leuven) on June 13-15. More than twenty Europeana project participants, representing European cultural and scientific institutions, information technology companies gathered in old Catholic University of Leuven. Works and their results (of 2011) as well as events for dissemination of Europeana content and services were overviewed during the conference. Great attention was paid to providing for Europeana future; various scenarios of development, including opportunities of creation of innovative network of Europeana Culture Commons, were discussed.

The Scientific Secretary of the National Library Sandra Leknickienė as well as representatives of Vilnius University Faculty of Communication and Lithuanian Art Museum participated in the Conference.

Great attention was paid to Hack4Europe contest results. This contest aims to create prototype applications (using Europeana API), thus increasing popularity of Europeana content and its consumption.

The National Library of Lithuania is the national coordinator of the Europeana and its’ project “Europeana Awareness” since 2012. It aims at promoting the society to use informational and cultural resources, collected in Europeana.
