BaltHerNet conference in Tartu
The conference “Hidden Treasures” of The Baltic Heritage Network (BaltHerNet) took place in Tartu, Estonia, on June 26-28. Specialists from various memory institutions (from 12th world countries) shared knowledge about Baltic diaspora archives, stored in their organisations, presented new projects, virtual exhibitions.
The conference was participated by head of Lituanica Department of the National library Jolanta Budriūnienė and editor of Rare Book and Manuscript department Alma Masevičienė. J. Budriūnienė delivered report “Lituanus“: the Case of Cooperation between Baltic Intellectuals in Exile”, where she analyzsd history and the importance of magazine “Lituanus”; A. Masevičienė presented main goals, objectives and benefits of project “Personal Database of the Lithuanian Written Language” in order to preserve as many examples of the written Lithuanian language in her report “The Project „Database of Private Written Lithuanian Language – Every Written Word is Significant”.
New board was elected during the BaltHerNet conference. The good news is that Lithuania will be represented from now on by even two members: head of Lituanica Department of the National library Jolanta Budriūnienė and chief specialist of the Information and Document Use Division of the Office of the Chief Archivist of Lithuania Ūllė Damasickienė.
