M. Kulčinskaja gift 1

Ms. Marina Kulčinskaja from Sweden, sponsor of various Lithuanian culture institutions, once again presented the National Library with a precious gift – almost 500 audio and video records. The Music Department has already added to its collections more than 300 new compact audio and video discs donated by M. Kulčinskaja.

Among presented records – works of legendary performers Nicolai Gedda, Birgit Nilson, Maria Callas, Misha Levitzki. There also are many records of old music – medieval „Le Jeu de Robin et Marion" by Adam de la Halle, „Stabat Mater" and „Magnificat" by Joaquin Desprez, operas „Amori d’Apollo e di Dafne" by Francesco Cavalli and „Agnesse di Hohenstaufen" by Gasparo Spontini, and many others. Pearls of modern music – works of Carl Orff, Paul Hindemith, Alban Berg, Domenico Alaleona and others are included into donated collection too, as well as record series „American Classics" and „Spanish Classics" reflecting development of national academic music.

We are very grateful to our friend Marina, also on behalf of our readers and visitors – their musical needs can be better fulfilled now.
