IFLA General Conference in Helsinki

78th IFLA General Conference took place in Helsinki on August 11-17 (theme: “Libraries now!... Inspiring... surprising... empowering”). Librarians from all over the world discussed about situation of libraries in the digital age, their opportunities and new challenges.

Director General of the National Library Prof. Dr. Renaldas Gudauskas was included into Lithuanian delegation and also participated in annual Conference of Directors of National Libraries (CDNL).

The National Library of Lithuania was also represented by acting director of Centre of Formation and Development of Information Resources Jolita Steponaitienė, who participated the conference as an advisory board member.

Lithuania achieved good results in IFLA Programme “Building Strong Library Associations”; it was organized by Lithuanian Librarians Association.
