Directors of National Libraries of Baltic states met in Lithuania

Meeting of directors and specialists of National Libraries from Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania took place in the training base (in Pakretuonė) of the National Library on September 24 – 25.
Representatives from three countries shared their experiences, presented planned changes and carrying on projects during the meeting. Organizational changes of institutions, integration of processes of traditional and e-libraries, development trends of e-services and issues of long-term preservation of cultural e-heritage were discussed as well.
One of the core objectives of the meeting was to strengthen closer cooperation, particularly in initiating and carrying out joint projects. Directors of National Libraries unanimously agreed to support closer cooperation of activities of organization “Bibliotheca Baltica”, uniting all the countries around the Baltic Sea region.
The meeting was participated by Director General of National Library of Estonia Jane Andersoo, Director General of the National Library of Latvia Andris Vilks, Director General of Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania Prof. Renaldas Gudauskas and other employees of strategic departments of national libraries.
