Collaboration with Italian Cultural Institute is strengthened

Head of Italian Cultural Institute and attaché of Italian culture in Lithuania Mr. Davide Scalmani visited the National Library on September 28.

Perspectives of inter-institutional co-operation were discussed with Director General of the National Library Prof. Dr. Renaldas Gudauskas and head of Lituanica Department Jolanta Budriūnienė. Opportunaties of joint cultural projects, exhibitions and other various events, looking for exhaustive acquaintance with country, having deep cultural and historical traditions, emphasizing cultural heritage, representing Italy and stored in the National Library and long-term italian-lithuanian relations, were discussed in the meeting as well.  

Events of XII Italian Culture Week, organized by  Italian Cultural Institute (in October 15-21) were presented during the conversation. One of them – books exhibition of Lozoraitis family collection, stored in Lituanica Department of the National Libray (the exhibition will open on October 16, 6:00).

Mission of Italian Cultural Institute (working in Vilnius since 2000) is to promote and disseminate Italian language and culture in Lithuania, organizing cultural events due to interchange of ideas, arts and science.
