Modernization of the Cultural Education System

Aim

The aim of the project is to strengthen cultural competencies at schools, develop creative and critical thinking skills of students and teachers and improve the cultural education system in Lithuanian schools by creating a new cultural education digital platform, training and facilitating a school cultural coordinator network, improving the quality and quantity of “Cultural Passport” program suppliers and establishing cultural interventions.

Tasks

  • To create a blockchain-based cultural education administration platform (for the “Cultural Passport” program and others)
  • To create a network of cultural education coordinators at schools to facilitate an exchange between schools and cultural educators as well as to mobilize and strengthen the established network of cultural educators by encouraging them to provide high-quality educational activities tailored to the needs of the school system.

Funding

The Project is implemented following the DNA Action Plan of the Future Economy "Creation of a cultural education administration platform and a network of cultural educators to ensure high-quality cultural education and precise coordination". The project is funded from the Lithuanian state budget, appropriations allocated to the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania. The project value is 2 500 000 EUR.

Main project indicator

Developed and tested platform – 1 pc. (31st December 2021). The number of beneficiaries of the platform is 350 000 (teachers, school administration, parents, students, developers)

Other project indicators

  • Access to cultural education services for Lithuanian students – about 320 000
  • Cultural interventions created – 40 (31st December 2021)
  • Students who participated in cultural interventions – 7 000 (31st December 2029)
  • Trained cultural education coordinators (teachers, librarians, others related to cultural education) – 400 (31st December 2021)

Impact on costs

The use of an efficient IT system will reduce administrative and time costs for service providers and users therefore saved time could be reallocated to value-added activities. Providing advice and training to creators (especially young people) will allow them to offer their services to educational institutions thus creating opportunities for earning money.
