Reopening of the National Library and opening hours

Dear visitors of the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania, last weekend you were invited to the main building opening celebration events and starting from Monday you are welcome back to the reading rooms.

The National Library is open for everyone and you will only need the reader's card to order publications from the general collections and to use other services. From Monday, 5 September, the reader's cards may be replaced (or obtained) at the main registration, service, and information desk on the second floor of the Library. 

The first 1,000 reader's cards will be issued free of charge.

The new opening hours of the National Library are presented below.

September – from 5 September

The main Library building is open and the multifunctional registration, service, and information desk on the 2nd floor is working:

Monday to Friday 8.00 - 21.00
Saturday 10.00 - 18.00
Sunday 11.00 - 16.00

Information desk on the 3rd floor is working:

Monday to Friday 9.00 - 19.00
Saturday 10.00 - 18.00

Social Sciences, Humanities, Rare Books and Manuscripts Reading Rooms and Children’s and Youth Reading Room (Gedimino ave. 60) are open:

Monday to Friday 8.00 - 21.00
Saturday 10.00 - 18.00
Sunday 11.00 - 14.00

The Lithuanian Studies Reading Room is closed and the readers are serviced in the Rare Books and Manuscripts Reading Room.

The National Library is closed on public holidays. The opening hours are one hour shorter on a day before a public holiday.
