The Head of the National Library continues his involvement with the Lithuanian National Commission for UNESCO

Prof. Dr. Renaldas Gudauskas, Director General of Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania, has become a member of the Lithuanian National Commission for UNESCO for the second successive term. The renewed National Commission for UNESCO will convene for the first meeting on 22 June 2021.

Before the first meeting of the Commission is held, Prof. Dr. R. Gudauskas will represent Lithuania at the 32nd annual meeting of the Bureau of the Intergovernmental Council for the Information for All Programme (IFAP) on 15 and 16 June 2021. The Head of the National Library will also attend the 65th meeting of the Bureau of the Intergovernmental Council for the Development of Communication (IPDC) which will take place on 17 and 18 June 2021.

The aim of the Lithuanian National Commission for UNESCO is to ensure the active involvement of the Republic of Lithuania in the activities of UNESCO in developing, evaluating and implementing programmes in line with the UNESCO goals. The Commission is comprised of 23 professionals who work in the fields of education, science, culture and communication as well as information and who serve as the members of the Commission on a pro bono publico basis. The Lithuanian National Commission for UNESCO is actively cooperating with the Government and the Parliament of the Republic of Lithuania, responsible ministries, their divisions, public bodies, and non-governmental organisations working in the areas of education, science or culture, and also with the professionals and experts in this field.
