Director General of the National Library Prof. Dr. Renaldas Gudauskas, who returned from International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) congress in Helsinki, was a guest in LRT (Lithuanian National Radio and Television) “Morning Allegro” radio show on August 23. Change of libraries role and opportunities in the digital age as well as change of cooperation of national libraries, issues on how libraries’ directors’ imagine activity of future libraries were discussed during the talk show.

Premiere of one part performance “Behind the doors” of Virgilijus Veršulis will take place in Palanga Summer Reading Room on August 24 at 8 PM. This new performance of Šiauliai Drama Theater will be shown for Palanga viewers primarily.

Participants of project “Pupils to government 2012” (students Beatričė Juškaitė from Kaunas Jonas Jablonskis Gymnasium and Lukas Keraitis from Šakiai “Žiburio" Gymnasium) visited the National Library on August 21.

The new photographs exhibition is opened in Neringa History Museum (Nida, Pamarys Street 53) on August 11. Photographs for exhibition (of XX c. German photographer Bruno Perling) were taken from collections of the National Library “Ansichten von der Kurischen Nehrung”.

Opening of travelling exhibition “The Voices of Spring”, commemorating the 150th anniversary of the birth of Maironis took place in Seimas on August 9. This event was a part of evening (of Lithuanian World Community XIV in Seimas program), dedicated for commemoration of Maironis life and creation.

Broadcast of Justė Gvazdaitytė “Passion for Action” is a part of “News radio” summer project “Public figures organize”. Director General of the National Library prof. Dr. Renaldas Gudauskas and “JCI Vilnius” president and communications consultant Justas Jaskonis share thoughts, how ideas are born, how to recognize and encourage trends in success in the broadcast.

The book “Silvija Vėlavičienė. In the Track of the Forbidden Press” was presented for parliament members of Lithuanian World Community and the National Library staff on August 8.
