The County Public Libraries Association (CPLA) organized conference "Dissemination of cultural heritage in regions and new challenges for the county public libraries" on May 15-16. It was participated by representatives of the National Library: Director General of the National Library Prof. Dr. Renaldas Gudauskas, Deputy Director General responsible for Administration and Human Resources Algirdas Tamulevičius and director of National Centre for Digitization and Virtual Electronic Heritage System Dr. Regina Varnienė-Janssen.

The new virtual exhibition of Deima Katinaitė’s works

Art Department of the National Library invites you to visit new virtual  exhibition of Deima Katinaitė’s paintings. It presents series “Untitled”, consisting of fifteen works created in 2001–2011. Paintings easily reflect favorite artistic movements of D. Katinaitė – Fauvism and Cubism.  The painter calls this series an attempt to perceive vanished essences of things.

Europeana Event: “Culture and Digital Innovations”

Director General of the National Library Prof. Dr. Renaldas Gudauskas together with Minister of Culture Dr. A. Gelūnas participated at the event of project Europeana results’ presentation in Brussels on May 9. EU members, minsters of culture, education and science, leaders of European national memory institutions – national libraries, archives, museums, delegates of creative industries and universities represented their countries at the event.

The extraordinary lessons “What Did Our Ancestors Read?” for IX – XII form pupils took place in Žemyna gymnasium on May 7. In commemoration of the Day of Press Recovery, Language and Book, head of the Reading Room of Children's Literature Centre Jūratė Pocienė told pupils of Vilnius Žemyna gymnasium about publishing and dissemination of Lithuanian press in the times of press ban.

Conference of Lithuanian Librarians' Association “Associations’ Success Formulas”

Annual conference of Lithuanian Librarians' Association (LLA) “Associations’ Success Formulas” was the final event of the National Library Week. It took place in Raseiniai region, on April 30. This event was participated by three representatives of LLA division of the National Library: Viktorija Kirijakaitė (Lituanica Department), Laura Vancevičienė (Library Science Centre) and Chairman Alma Masevičienė.

The conference “Change of Lithuanian Identity in Exile Culture” in (Kaunas) Vytautas Magnus University's Center for Emigration Studies

Scientific conference “Change of Lithuanian Identity in Exile Culture” took place in (Kaunas) Vytautas Magnus University's Center for Emigration Studies on April 27. Interdisciplinary conference was designed for research and presentation of change of Lithuanian identity in the context of exile culture. Expression of Lithuanian exile identity (of XIX–XXI c.) in cultural, historical, linguistic, sociological fields was analysed in scientific reports. Lithuanian and foreign researchers presented their insights, summarized research conclusions and opportunities of new scientific theories, analysing available sources, related to Lithuanian emigration and ethnic identity.
