Development of the adult education system by providing learners with general and basic competencies

Project aim
To encourage the country’s adults to take part in lifelong learning by offering them relevant and attractive services for the improvement of general and key competencies, professional skills, opportunities for cultural workers and persons operating in the cultural sector in municipalities; to strengthen the functionality of the system of non-formal adult education and continuing education through high-quality educational content.

Project funding and value
The project is financed from the European support funds and the Lithuanian state budget. EUR 1 million has been allocated for the implementation of the project, of which EUR 678,536 has been allocated for the activities curated by the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania.

Indicators to be achieved

  1. Organise training for the improvement of general and basic competencies of adults and competencies of cultural workers and persons operating in the field of culture, in which 600 persons would participate, including 200 unique participants;
  2. Organise training for employees of 10 separate cultural fields (archives, libraries, cultural centres, museums, theatres, technical staff, classical singing and dance performers, concert institutions (music), cinema, heritage);
  3. Organise training with a total duration of 2800 academic hours.

Planned impact of the project
The project will contribute to the improvement of the quality of social and economic life, reduce the risk of social exclusion of some adults. Quality education content and its delivery to various groups will strengthen the system of non-formal adult education and continuous learning.
