He graduated in Piano from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in 1993 and in 2002, obtained a doctorate degree in Art History (Musicology) (the dissertation “Musical text of piano works by M. K. Čiurlionis (aspect of genesis))”. He is an expert at the Lithuanian Council for Culture, the Research Council of Lithuania, the Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education, the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports of the Republic of Lithuania and the agency MusiQuE (Belgium) as well as a member of the Lithuanian Composers Union (the Musicologists’ Section), the International Association of Music Libraries and the International Musicological Society.
His research interests include music textology, printed music publishing, old Lithuanian music recordings, musical heritage of Lithuanian expatriates, Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis’s musical legacy and the Lithuanian music for pianola. In his research, he applies complex musicological analysis.
His current research is on mechanical music recordings in Lithuania and worldwide.
