Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a form of cooperation between libraries in which one library lends documents or provides copies of articles to another library.

The National Library provides ILL services:

  • for registered users of the National Library;
  • Lithuanian libraries and institutions holding a ILL certificate;
  • foreign libraries and institutions.

Information and Registration Desk (2nd floor)

Registered users of the National Library, Lithuanian libraries and institutions can:

  • order documents or copies of articles (no more than 5 items at a time) from other Lithuanian and foreign libraries;
  • use documents obtained from Lithuanian libraries (up to 1 month) and from foreign libraries (up to 1 month).

Please note that:

  • ILL services are chargeable (see chargeable services);
  • if you lose or damage your item in any way, you will have to pay for the damage caused;
  • reference books, periodicals, art albums, audio-visual recordings, sheet music, manuscripts, maps are not issued;
  • no publications are ordered for users from libraries in the same city, with the exception of library users with disabilities;
  • orders sent to foreign libraries are not cancelled.
