On 7 May, the Day of the Revival of Press, Language and Book, the winners of the 20th edition of the “Book of the Year 2024” campaign were announced at the Vaidila Theatre in Vilnius.
The competition was open to books published in 2024, selected by expert juries, with a total of 23 books nominated in five categories. Readers could vote for them for two months, starting with the announcement of the nominated books at the Vilnius Book Fair.
The organisers awarded cash prizes to the authors of the winning books, and the authors’ stamp studio Ekslibris.lt donated name stamps. They were designed by graphic designer Jūratė Kemeklytė-Bagdonienė.
The campaign is organised by the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania and the Ministry of Education, Science and Sports of the Republic of Lithuania. The partner of the campaign is the Lithuanian Publishers’ Association and the information partner is the Lithuanian Radio and Television.
The campaign is part of the Reading Promotion Programme funded by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania.
