On 25 March at 6 pm join us for a screening of the documentary Searching for Sugar Man, followed by an informal post-film discussion.
Searching for Sugar Man (2012, directed by Malik Bendjelloul) is a documentary about American singer-songwriter Sixto Rodriguez, whose music unexpectedly became a cultural phenomenon in South Africa while he remained largely unknown in the United States. The film follows two fans as they investigate his story, revealing a broader narrative about artistic legacy, cultural circulation, and the bond between an artist and audiences across borders. The film won the Academy Award (Oscar) for Best Documentary Feature and has received 44 wins and 33 nominations in total.

The movie will be screened in the Cinema room of the National Library (5th floor).
