Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Dearest community members of the Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania,

As 2017 comes to a close, we can reflect upon a year that has been interesting, creative and full of change. The National Library and its staff, apart from successfully fulfilling their day-to-day duties, actively participated in significant international projects and made a substantial contribution to the processes speeding up our country's progress and increasing its competitiveness. We laboured with focus and can take pride in the results we have achieved together.

In light of the approaching holidays, I wish to sincerely thank the visitors and readers of our library. We have our finger on the pulse, are familiar with your needs and have concrete plans as to how to continue improving and developing our common endeavours.

I am proud of our partners and sponsors. Working together we have come up with many wise solutions, overcome challenges and arrived at the other end with an energy and desire to continue cooperating successfully in the future.

I wish to congratulate my colleagues and all the like-minded professionals around the world, no matter where they do what brings us all together, what is so necessary and meaningful in this day and age – the work of a librarian.

I would like to say a great THANK YOU to all the employees of the National Library. It is only if we work as one and with a clear understanding of the changes we have chosen to bring about that we will be strong and continue to create our story of success – a modern, innovative and socially responsible National Library needed by all.

I wish you an enlightened, cosy and meaningful Christmas and a happy New Year!

Sincerely yours,

Director General Prof. Dr. Renaldas Gudauskas
